Shares in Jangada Mines PLC climbed 6% to 1.67p in early trading after the Brazil-focused gold developer announced the appointment of highly regarded small-cap veteran Hugo de Salis as a non-executive director, effective immediately.
Well known across the junior mining and AIM investment community, de Salis brings decades of experience in capital markets, investor relations and corporate communications. He began his City career at Schroders Unit Trust before moving to J.P. Morgan Investment Management, and later worked at global PR firm Weber Shandwick.
He went on to found St Brides Partners, a specialist investor relations advisory for listed natural resources companies, before establishing Ragnar Capital Partners, an FCA-regulated corporate finance firm, and Lepanto Consultancy, which provides strategic guidance to smaller quoted businesses.
Jangada said his expertise will play a key role in supporting its ambitions to advance its gold strategy in Brazil, particularly as it accelerates development at the Paranaíta gold project, where trenching and early-stage drilling are already underway.
Chairman Brian McMaster welcomed the appointment, saying: “We are delighted to welcome Hugo to the Board at what is an exciting juncture for Jangada Mines. We are at an inflection point and his knowledge of the markets and extensive network in the finance and resource arenas, particularly in the UK, will be invaluable as we build out our gold development strategy in Brazil and deliver value for our shareholders.
