Forgent PLC (AIM: FORG), formerly known as Eqtec Plc, has announced that investor Mike Whitlow has acquired a significant shareholding, giving him control of 6.56% of the company’s voting rights.
The acquisition, which took place on 19 October 2026, resulted in Whitlow holding 3,188,000,000 voting rights attached to ordinary shares.
The company received notification of the transaction on 20 October 2026, following its recent corporate name change from Eqtec to Forgent.
The entire 6.56% holding is represented by shares, with no additional voting rights held through financial instruments or other derivative arrangements.
The disclosure confirms Whitlow as a substantial shareholder in the AIM-listed company, with his voting interest exceeding the 3% threshold generally requiring notification under UK market disclosure rules.
The acquisition represents a notable change in Forgent’s shareholder register, although the notification does not disclose the purchase price, total consideration or Whitlow’s intentions regarding his investment.
For investors, attention may now turn to whether further changes in major shareholdings emerge following the company’s rebranding.
Whitlow’s 6.56% voting interest gives him a significant minority stake in Forgent, providing exposure to the company’s future performance and strategic direction.
