Guardian Metal Resources plc (NYSE-A: GMTL, LON: GMET) has reported broad tungsten intersections from its Tempiute project in Nevada, including 92.0m at 0.34% WO₃, prompting the company to accelerate rehabilitation of the historic underground mine workings.
The standout Phase II hole, TP26-046, returned 92.0m at 0.34% WO₃ from 102.5m, including 12.7m at 0.53% WO₃ and 5.1m at 0.49% WO₃. Other results included 27.9m at 0.27% WO₃ and 20.2m at 0.21% WO₃.
Guardian has completed 28 of a planned 46 Phase II holes, with assays pending from a further 24 holes. The programme is targeting the South Thumb and Schofield zones around the historic Tempiute workings and is designed to support a potential initial Mineral Resource estimate.
On the strength of the initial results and visual observations from holes awaiting assay, the company has engaged an underground contractor to begin rehabilitation works in October 2026. Once access is restored, underground drill rigs will be mobilised to improve drilling efficiency and better define the mineralised zones.
Phase I regional drilling has also demonstrated tungsten mineralisation beyond the historical mine footprint, with 20 of 41 holes intersecting significant mineralisation. Results included 32.4m at 0.26% WO₃, including 1.7m at 2.00% WO₃, and 14.0m at 0.35% WO₃, including 5.8m at 0.63% WO₃.
Guardian is also assessing permitting for a near-surface mineralised lode on patented mining claims, with the aim of identifying the shortest route towards producing new tungsten material from Tempiute.
For investors, the significance is that the latest drilling is beginning to demonstrate both width and grade around a historically producing tungsten mine, while underground rehabilitation could materially improve access for follow-up drilling and potential future development. However, Tempiute remains an exploration-stage project with no Mineral Resource or Mineral Reserve yet defined, and any accelerated extraction would still carry technical, permitting, financing and economic risks.
