Mkango Resources Ltd (AIM/TSX-V: MKA) will change its name to Mkango Magnetic Materials Limited, reflecting the company’s shift from primary raw-material development towards rare earth magnet manufacturing, recycling and downstream supply-chain technologies.
The new name will take effect from the start of trading on 23 September 2026 on both AIM and the TSX Venture Exchange. The company will continue to trade under the MKA ticker, and shareholders are not required to take any action.
Mkango said its core strategy is now centred on producing recycled rare earth magnets, alloys and oxides, primarily through its 79.4%-owned Maginito business and its wholly owned German subsidiary, which acquired Remloy.
Maginito owns HyProMag, focused on short-loop rare earth magnet recycling and manufacturing in the UK, while HyProMag GmbH is developing similar operations in Germany. The group is also expanding into the US through the 50/50 HyProMag USA joint venture with CoTec Holdings.
Remloy operates a plant in Bitterfeld, Germany, designed to recycle end-of-life rare earth magnets into neodymium-iron-boron alloy powders, complementing Mkango’s other recycling technologies.
Mkango will continue to own its Songwe Hill rare earths project in Malawi and proposed Pulawy separation plant in Poland, although those assets are also being positioned for a separate NASDAQ listing through a SPAC transaction under the proposed Mkango Rare Earths Limited name.
For investors, the name change is primarily strategic rather than operational, but it makes clearer that Mkango’s listed parent is increasingly focused on the downstream magnet and recycling market, while its upstream rare earth projects are being separated into a distinct development vehicle.
