Physiomics secures drug development contract

Physiomics plc (AIM: PYC) has secured a new £119,000 contract for drug development modelling while exploring additional commercial opportunities for its personalised dosing technology, including potential expansion into the US and wellness markets.

The mathematical modelling and data science specialist confirmed that the contract covers model-informed drug development (MIDD), incorporating pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modelling to support the development of new therapeutics.

The agreement strengthens Physiomics’ core consultancy business, which provides modelling, data science and biostatistics services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Separately, Physiomics has entered into non-binding heads of terms with an undisclosed third party to investigate further commercial applications for its personalised dosing software and associated intellectual property.

The discussions will explore potential marketing and commercialisation opportunities, including expansion into the wellness sector and the United States.

However, the company stressed that no specific applications, commercial terms or revenue arrangements have been agreed, with any future partnership dependent on a definitive agreement being negotiated and signed.

These potential opportunities are separate from Physiomics’ existing personalised dosing programmes and will not affect current arrangements.

The company’s grant-funded PREDICT-ONC study, conducted alongside Beyond Blood Diagnostics and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, remains ongoing, with final findings expected to be reported in due course.

Physiomics also confirmed that its existing relationship with DoseMe, including separate arrangements relating to the DoseMeRx platform, remains unchanged.

Mike Whitlow, Executive Director of Physiomics, welcomed the contract win, highlighting the company’s ability to secure and execute projects efficiently.

He added that management remains focused on unlocking the wider commercial potential of its personalised dosing technology and identifying opportunities to generate value from existing relationships and intellectual property.

The £119,000 contract provides additional revenue visibility, while the exploratory commercial discussions could offer longer-term growth opportunities if they progress into formal agreements.

For investors, attention will now turn to the outcome of the commercial discussions and forthcoming PREDICT-ONC study findings, which could provide further insight into the potential applications of Physiomics’ personalised medicine technology.
