Bitcoin experienced another turbulent day, swinging between intraday highs of $59,650 and lows near $57,000.
Ultimately, the world’s largest cryptocurrency closed overnight about 0.6% lower against the US dollar, marking its third consecutive day of losses this Friday.
As Bitcoin struggles to stay below $60,000, a significant political figure has made a notable endorsement of the decentralized economy.
In an unexpected announcement, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will be speaking at the upcoming Bitcoin 2024 conference, set to begin on 25 July.
Trump has shown growing support for the cryptocurrency industry, with the Republican National Committee promising to “end the Democrats’ unlawful and un-American crypto crackdown and oppose the creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency.”
The Bitcoin 2024 conference features an unusual lineup, including Russell Brand, who is facing sexual misconduct allegations, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and whistleblower Edward Snowden.
More traditional guests will include MicroStrategy’s chairman Michael Saylor and tech investor Cathie Wood.
