Amigo Resources plc (LON: AMGO) has reported a series of operational milestones at its Kabete Project in Tanzania, including the grant of a processing licence, initial gold production during commissioning activities and encouraging results from an advanced micro-seismic exploration programme.
The developments mark progress in the company’s strategy of combining exploration activities with in-country mineral processing infrastructure.
Processing Licence Granted and Gold Recovery Achieved
A significant milestone was achieved following the award of Processing Licence PCL 0356/2026, allowing the company to commence commissioning and pilot-scale processing operations at Kabete.
During initial commissioning activities, approximately 1.1 kilograms of gold was recovered from material sourced from exploration programmes, evaluation work and historical workings within the project area.
The company confirmed that all royalties, inspection fees and statutory payments relating to the recovered gold have been made in accordance with Tanzanian mining regulations.
While the recovered gold is primarily linked to commissioning and testing activities rather than commercial production, it demonstrates the operational functionality of the processing facility and validates the company’s integrated development model.
Advanced Exploration Technology Identifies New Targets
Alongside processing activities, Amigo has completed the first phase of an advanced micro-seismic imaging programme over priority exploration targets.
The survey was designed to complement existing geological and geochemical datasets and improve drill targeting efficiency.
Preliminary interpretation has identified several coherent geological structures, including a significant vertically extensive structural feature that management believes could represent a favourable conduit for mineralisation.
The results also show encouraging correlation with previously identified geochemical anomalies containing elevated gold, arsenic, copper, nickel and chromium values.
Management is now integrating the new geophysical information with existing geological mapping, artisanal mining records and historical exploration data to refine future drill targets.
Expansion of Exploration Programme Planned
The completed survey represents only the first stage of a broader regional exploration strategy.
Amigo intends to extend micro-seismic coverage across additional targets generated from its wider geochemical database, with the objective of developing a pipeline of drill-ready prospects.
The next phase of work will focus on:
- Expanding micro-seismic surveying across priority targets
- Integrating geological, geochemical and geophysical datasets
- Prioritising targets for trenching and drilling
- Continuing optimisation of the processing facility
- Advancing exploration across the broader Tanzanian portfolio
Integrated Processing Hub Strategy
The Kabete facility forms part of Amigo’s longer-term strategy to establish regional mineral processing hubs capable of supporting both company-owned projects and potentially third-party operators, subject to regulatory approvals.
Management believes this approach could accelerate project development timelines while increasing value retention within Tanzania.
Potential Corporate Activity Remains Under Review
In addition to operational progress, Chairman Craig Ransley reiterated that the company continues to evaluate several opportunities outside its normal course of business which could potentially result in a reverse takeover transaction.
However, management stressed that discussions remain preliminary and there can be no certainty that any such transaction will proceed.
Investor Perspective
The announcement delivers several positive operational developments, particularly the successful commissioning of the processing facility and the recovery of first gold.
The exploration update is also noteworthy, with advanced geophysical techniques identifying structural targets that appear consistent with earlier geochemical anomalies.
While the project remains at an early development stage and no resource estimate has yet been established, the combination of processing infrastructure, expanding exploration activities and ongoing target generation provides multiple potential catalysts for investors to monitor over the coming months.
