Rockfire Resources plc (LON: ROCK) has reported exceptionally high-grade zinc mineralisation from its Molaoi project in Greece, including a record individual laboratory assay of 51.1% zinc, as drilling continues to expand confidence in the deposit’s zinc, silver and germanium potential.
The exploration company confirmed that laboratory results from drill hole HMO-021 at its 100%-owned Molaoi deposit identified several substantial mineralised intervals, including 11 metres grading 5.0% zinc, 19 grams per tonne of silver and 8 grams per tonne of germanium from a depth of 238 metres.
The intersection represents a zinc-equivalent grade of 7.7% and includes a higher-grade section of 1.4 metres at 18.1% zinc, 70g/t silver and 20.5g/t germanium.
Within the wider interval, laboratory analysis returned an exceptional 0.34 metres grading 51.1% zinc, 222g/t silver, 35.4g/t germanium and 2.4% lead, equivalent to 72.3% zinc on a metal-value basis.
Rockfire said this represents the highest individual zinc grade recorded through laboratory analysis at Molaoi.
Additional results from HMO-021 included 3.1 metres grading 6.0% zinc from 271.86 metres and 2 metres grading 5.2% zinc from 310 metres, including a narrower 0.53-metre interval containing 19% zinc.
The presence of silver and germanium alongside zinc could provide additional value from future mineral concentrate production, although recoveries and commercial processing arrangements remain to be established.
A maiden JORC Inferred mineral resource estimate for germanium is currently being prepared, potentially providing a clearer assessment of the critical mineral’s contribution to the project.
Meanwhile, diamond drilling continues at Molaoi, with hole HMO-022 currently in progress as Rockfire works to upgrade portions of its existing mineral resource from the Inferred to Indicated category.
Preliminary portable X-ray fluorescence readings from HMO-022 have returned individual zinc values of 44.6%, 40% and 36.8%, alongside a maximum silver reading of 72g/t at 238 metres depth.
These readings remain indicative and require laboratory confirmation before being treated as verified assay results.
Rockfire has also received an improved delivery schedule for its new Epiroc drilling rig, which is now expected to arrive at Piraeus Port in Athens on 13 November 2026, five days earlier than previously anticipated.
The rig will undergo customs clearance, transportation, mechanical and safety inspections, certification and registration before entering service.
To maintain operational momentum, the company has extended its agreement with its existing drilling contractor, allowing exploration to continue while the new equipment is prepared for deployment.
Rockfire has also commissioned a drone-based magnetic survey covering the entire Molaoi licence area, aimed at identifying geological structures and potential fault-related offsets in mineralisation.
The survey results are expected to assist geological interpretation and guide future drilling across the deposit.
Chief Executive David Price described the HMO-021 results as exceptional, highlighting the broad intervals of massive and semi-massive mineralisation alongside the potential contribution from silver and germanium.
He said continued drilling was improving confidence in the geological model and supporting the company’s efforts to increase resource certainty at Molaoi.
For investors, the record 51.1% zinc assay and substantial mineralised intersections represent encouraging exploration results, particularly as Rockfire advances resource definition and evaluates the potential economic contribution of associated critical minerals.
However, the exceptionally high-grade individual assay covers only 0.34 metres, and further drilling, resource estimation and metallurgical work will be required to establish the deposit’s broader commercial potential.
Attention will now turn to laboratory confirmation of the HMO-022 results, completion of the maiden germanium resource estimate and deployment of the new drilling rig, as Rockfire continues advancing Molaoi towards a higher-confidence mineral resource.
