Georgina Energy Plc (LON: GEX) has advanced preparations for its Mt Winter helium, hydrogen and hydrocarbons prospect in Australia, with technical and operations teams due on site from 18 to 23 October 2026.
The visit will assess road access, the proposed well re-entry location, the existing airstrip and the layout of the planned seismic programme.
The work will also cover civil engineering requirements and a preliminary Environmental Impact Statement, ahead of future site preparation and drilling activity.
Georgina said terms under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act have been agreed by all parties, while discussions with the Central Land Council and Traditional Owners are continuing.
A final formal authorisation meeting is currently planned for mid-November 2026.
The company is also progressing settlement arrangements for its planned 100% acquisition of exploration permit EP155.
Completion remains dependent on the tenement being granted by the Northern Territory Minister for Mines and Energy, after which settlement with Mosman Oil & Gas, now Quantum Helium, is expected to take place.
Georgina intends to accelerate the Mt Winter re-entry and development programme once the remaining approvals are in place.
The company cites 2U/P50 prospective resources of 234 BCF of helium, 214 BCF of hydrogen and 1.7 TCF of gas at Mt Winter.
These figures are prospective resources rather than reserves, meaning they represent estimated exploration potential and have not yet been demonstrated as commercially recoverable.
The seismic approval process is also said to be nearing completion.
Georgina has already begun discussions with drilling contractors, including Ensign Energy Drilling, as part of preparations for the proposed re-entry programme.
Anthony Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer of Georgina Energy, commented: “The planned site inspection will allow us to prepare the civil engineering works plans and environmental approvals which, similar to Hussar, will facilitate the arrival of a drill rig. The rig selection process has been initiated with Ensign Energy and other contractors. Further updates will follow as we work to expedite the Company’s planned Mt Winter prospect re-entry.”
For investors, the significance of the update is that Mt Winter is moving from planning towards on-the-ground preparation, with access, environmental, seismic and drilling workstreams now progressing in parallel.
The next material milestones are completion of the October site inspection, final Traditional Owner authorisation, grant of EP155, completion of the acquisition and confirmation of a drilling contractor and re-entry timetable.
Until those steps are completed, Mt Winter remains a pre-drilling exploration and development opportunity rather than an operating project.
Investor takeaway: Georgina Energy is moving Mt Winter towards field execution, with site inspections scheduled for 18-23 October, access terms agreed and drilling contractors already approached. However, the project still requires final Traditional Owner authorisation, tenement grant and completion of the EP155 acquisition before the re-entry programme can proceed.
