Strike action to resume at Exxon Mobil’s UK Fawley oil refinery in the New Year

A spokesperson for the GMB union stated that strike action at Exxon Mobil’s Fawley oil refinery, which produces 270,000 barrels per day (bpd), in southern England, is scheduled to resume on January 9.

The strike vote was voted down by workers at the end of November, but they have since suspended all industrial action for the rest of the year.

“Local members have resumed work as usual. According to a spokesperson, the industrial action will resume on Jan. 9, subject to any new talks between the employers and union.”

Exxon Mobil spokeswoman said that the strike action had not affected fuel deliveries or refinery operations.
