Strategic Minerals PLC (AIM: SML) has announced the discovery of a new, significant tin-bearing structure at its Redmoor Tungsten-Tin-Copper Project in Cornwall.
The newly identified “North Tin Zone” is interpreted as a distinct mineralised structure, separate from the existing Redmoor Sheeted Vein System (SVS) deposit. The discovery follows analysis of recent drilling results, supported by a review of historical data.
Among the latest results was a 4.00-metre intersection grading 0.25% tin (Sn) and 0.01% copper (Cu), confirming meaningful tin mineralisation within the new zone.
Management believes the North Tin Zone offers substantial long-term upside and could materially enhance the project’s scale. The structure will be incorporated into the upcoming Mineral Resource Estimate update, potentially expanding the overall resource base at Redmoor.
Dennis Rowland, Managing Director of Cornwall Resources Limited (CRL), said the latest programme results and updated geological modelling have confirmed the discovery of a new tin-dominant structure located outside the existing Sheeted Vein System (SVS) deposit — and separate from the high-grade zone defined in the 2019 Mineral Resource Estimate.
The newly identified North Tin Zone contains visible cassiterite and has been interpreted as a large, distinct and continuous mineralised structure. Rowland confirmed that the zone will be incorporated into the forthcoming Mineral Resource Estimate update, including consideration within the Reasonable Prospects for Eventual Economic Extraction (RPEEE) analysis.
He added that recent exploration success at Redmoor reflects both the geological strength of the project and consistent technical execution. The North Tin Zone is viewed as offering meaningful long-term resource growth potential, complementing ongoing efforts to expand the existing SVS deposit, subject to further drilling and estimation work.
Strategic Minerals Executive Chairman Charles Manners described the discovery as a significant step forward for the Redmoor project. He noted that the zone had previously gone unrecognised, lying outside known structures and the current SVS resource envelope. However, strong results from the 2025 drilling programme — including validation of 1980s historical drilling data — alongside relogging and resampling work, have fed into updated geological modelling that revealed the additional mineralisation.
Manners also highlighted Redmoor’s polymetallic exposure, comprising tungsten, tin, copper and silver. He pointed out that tightening supply and rising demand have supported pricing across these metals, with copper and tin seeing liquid market-driven rallies, while tungsten pricing remains structurally firm amid growing critical mineral security concerns.
He concluded that Redmoor benefits from what he described as a highly advantageous basket of strategically important metals.
