London’s FTSE 100 closed at its lowest level in almost two weeks on Friday, dragged lower by steep losses in property and travel stocks. The blue-chip index ended 53 points, or 0.55%, lower at 9,682, extending the week’s broader decline in line with global markets.

Rightmove was the day’s biggest faller, plunging 12.5% after the property portal outlined plans to ramp up investment in artificial intelligence, prompting investor concerns over near-term profitability.

International Airlines Group (IAG) also weighed on the index, sliding 11.5% after the airline group reported a slowdown in demand for North American routes over the summer. The losses left the FTSE at its weakest close since 24 October, mirroring the downbeat tone across global equities as technology valuations and growth prospects came under renewed scrutiny.
