The FTSE 100 closed higher on Friday gaining an encouraging 1.2%. The top performer was NatWest, which rose by 7%, followed by Anglo American with a 5.1% increase.
On the opposite end of the blue-chip index, warehouse owner Segro fell by 1.7%, and Rightmove closed down 1.4%. In contrast, the FTSE 250 climbed by 2.3%. Power generation company Drax led the gains, up 14%, with defence firm Babcock following at an 8.7% increase.
