Yesterday at 6 pm Premier African Minerals (AIM: PREM) provided an update on plant operations at Zulu Lithium and Tantalum.
Premier African Minerals has announced that its Zulu lithium project in Zimbabwe’s processing plant is operational, producing concentrates from both Mica and Spodumene flotation sections.
The company is currently analyzing these concentrates and has identified several operational challenges that need to be addressed by the plant contractors, impacting both the quantity and quality of the output.
A critical issue is the inadequate coverage of pH measurement instrumentation across all necessary plant components, along with the reagent dosing system’s inability to adjust pH levels to the intended specifications.
Premier African Minerals expects the plant contractor to resolve these issues immediately.
In preliminary tests, the material processed in the spodumene flotation plant showed a potential for achieving a 6.1% Li2O concentrate from the current run-of-mine ore.
George Roach, CEO, commented, “Premier believes that we are getting there. Not as quickly as Premier had hoped and with more unnecessary remedial issues than Premier had anticipated.
Premier therefore remains simultaneously encouraged and frustrated. Further updates will follow
