Kendrick Resources Plc (LON: KEN) has reported further high-grade certified assay results from its Teufelskuppe Carbonatite Complex in Namibia, with drilling returning 3.05% light rare earth oxides over a substantial 37.9-metre mineralised width.
The latest results cover four additional diamond drill holes across three mineralised sills, TK3, TK4 and TK5, and provide further evidence of what the company describes as strong continuity and consistent grades across the Teufelskuppe system.
The standout result came from drill hole TKDD006, which returned 37.9 metres grading 3.05% LREO from surface.
TKDD007 also delivered a significant intersection of 31.58 metres at 2.33% LREO, including a higher-grade section of 5.5 metres at 3.12% LREO.
At TKDD009, drilling intersected 16.4 metres grading 2.51% LREO, including 3.67 metres at 2.92% LREO.
TKDD005 returned 8.42 metres at 2.71% LREO from surface, including 5.47 metres grading 3.00% LREO.
The results add further information across the three mineralised sills and, importantly for the project’s development, demonstrate rare earth mineralisation occurring across relatively broad widths rather than being restricted to narrow high-grade intervals.
Kendrick said mineralisation continuity and consistent grade continue to emerge as key characteristics of the Teufelskuppe Carbonatite Complex.
The latest drilling results follow recent positive mineralogical and metallurgical work at Teufelskuppe, which confirmed that more than 95% of the project’s rare earth pool is hosted within minerals considered amenable to established processing routes.
Certified assays have also previously demonstrated low thorium and uranium concentrations, which Kendrick believes could simplify the eventual processing flowsheet and reduce some of the environmental, permitting and cost challenges associated with higher-radioactivity rare earth deposits.
Chairman Colin Bird said the latest certified results provided further evidence of continuity and consistent LREO grades as Kendrick moves rapidly through its Teufelskuppe development programme.
He added that recent work demonstrating the reliability of portable XRF results as a preliminary exploration indicator gives the company confidence in its strategy to build a mineral resource and establish a processing flowsheet as quickly as practicable.
The latest assays strengthen the geological dataset at Teufelskuppe as Kendrick works towards defining the scale of the rare earth system and advancing the project towards a maiden mineral resource.
