Georgina Energy updates investors on first-half performance

Georgina Energy plc (LON: GEX) reported a higher pre-tax loss of £3.51 million for the six months ended 31 July 2026, while strengthening its cash position through equity fundraising as it advances its helium, hydrogen and natural gas projects in Australia.

The exploration and development company recorded a loss before taxation of £3,505,105, compared with £1,087,732 in the corresponding period last year.

Total comprehensive losses reached £3,526,875, reflecting continued expenditure as Georgina progresses its exploration portfolio towards drilling and potential commercial development.

Despite the increased loss, the company’s financial position benefited from additional shareholder funding.

Cash and cash equivalents rose to £1,452,135 at 31 July 2026, compared with £269,097 at the beginning of the reporting period.

The improvement was supported by £2,813,124 raised through share issuances, providing additional capital for operational activities and project development.

Operational progress continued at the Hussar EP513 project in Western Australia, where Georgina has been advancing site preparations, contractor arrangements and the infrastructure required for exploration drilling.

The project targets helium, hydrogen and natural gas within geological formations in the Officer Basin.

At the Mt Winter EPA155 project in Australia’s Northern Territory, the company has also progressed development preparations and associated agreements as it works towards further exploration activity.

Both projects form part of Georgina’s strategy to establish commercially viable helium and hydrogen resources, alongside conventional natural gas opportunities.

The interim financial position nevertheless highlights the funding requirements associated with advancing early-stage exploration assets.

The company acknowledged a material uncertainty relating to its ability to secure sufficient future funding, with further capital potentially required to support its planned expenditure and development programme.

However, the directors consider the going-concern basis of accounting appropriate, citing recent fundraising activity and potential access to additional financing sources.

That assessment does not remove the uncertainty surrounding future capital requirements or guarantee that further funding will be available on acceptable terms.

For investors, the increased cash balance provides greater short-term financial flexibility, although the higher interim loss highlights the continuing costs of progressing the company’s Australian projects.

Attention will now turn to the mobilisation and drilling timetable at Hussar EP513, further progress at Mt Winter and Georgina’s ability to secure funding for its ongoing exploration programme.
