Kendrick Resources Plc (LON: KEN) has reported further high-grade rare earth results from drilling at its Teufelskuppe project in Namibia, including an intercept of 4.77% light rare earth oxides (LREO) over 19.25 metres.
The latest portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) analytical results cover diamond drill holes TKDD014 to TKDD018 and show mineralisation across substantial widths in several of the project’s sill and dyke structures.
Among the standout results, TKDD017 intersected 19.25 metres grading 4.77% LREO from 21.75 metres, including 12 metres at 5.80% LREO from 29 metres.
TKDD016 encountered a broader 36.75-metre continuous mineralised interval grading 2.24% LREO from a depth of seven metres, targeting the TK5 sill.
Meanwhile, TKDD015 returned 33.75 metres at 2.87% LREO from 46.5 metres, with the hole ending in mineralisation. Higher-grade sections included 6.5 metres at 4.60% LREO and 2.75 metres at 8.18% LREO.
At the TK4 sill, TKDD014 intersected 35.75 metres at 2.03% LREO from just 0.25 metres depth.
Results from TKDD018 at the TK7 sill included 15.25 metres grading 2.35% LREO from 3.25 metres and a further 10.5 metres at 2.45% LREO from 21.75 metres.
Chairman Colin Bird said the latest results were consistent with previous drilling and that the repeated appearance of higher grades over significant intervals was becoming a common feature of the Teufelskuppe complex.
“Again this is a pleasing set of results consistent with previously reported numbers and the regular appearance of higher grades over significant intervals is becoming a common feature of the complex,” Bird said.
Kendrick is progressing Teufelskuppe towards verification and conversion of its in-house mineral resource estimate to JORC 2012 compliance, alongside continuing diamond and reverse-circulation drilling.
The company previously announced a provisional 14 million tonne surface mineral resource estimate, which is not yet JORC compliant, and believes ongoing drilling indicates potential for substantially greater mineralisation below the surface.
The principal rare earth elements at Teufelskuppe are cerium, lanthanum, neodymium and praseodymium. Kendrick said neodymium and praseodymium, which are strategically important for permanent magnets used in electric vehicles, renewable energy and advanced technologies, account for an average of around 25% by weight of the project’s rare earth pool.
The latest drilling provides further evidence of both the lateral continuity and depth potential of the Teufelskuppe rare earth system as Kendrick works towards defining a compliant mineral resource.
