Boris Johnson has launched a furious attack on Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, branding him the “orange ball-chewing manacled gimp of Brussels” in response to the UK’s new Brexit “reset” deal with the EU.
Johnson, who negotiated the original post-Brexit trade agreement during his time in No. 10, criticised Starmer’s revised deal as “hopelessly one-sided” and accused the Prime Minister of breaking promises made to voters by effectively re-aligning the UK with EU rules without a say in shaping them.
“This appalling sell-out means the UK will have to accept EU laws on everything from food standards to emissions trading,” Johnson said in a post on X. “Two-tier Keir has sacrificed UK fishing interests just as we were due to regain full legal control over our waters.”

Starmer unveiled the agreement at the first UK-EU summit in London, alongside European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen and European Council president Antonio Costa. The deal includes a 12-year extension for EU access to British fishing waters in exchange for improved trade terms.
Defending the agreement, Starmer said it represented a “win-win” and showed the UK was “back on the world stage,” urging a move away from past political battles in favour of “practical solutions” for the country.
Responding to Johnson’s remarks, Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch said, “Boris Johnson is Boris Johnson,” and declined to offer further comment, noting only that “he uses language that gets attention.”
