First Class Metals reports high-grade gold assays at Roy extension ahead of Sunbeam drilling

First Class Metals PLC (LON: FCM) has reported further high-grade gold assay results from its Sunbeam property in Ontario, Canada, confirming a gold anomaly extending approximately 300 metres along the Roy trend, more than one kilometre from the historic Roy mine shafts.

The latest findings strengthen the company’s confidence in its earlier visible gold discovery, which returned an exceptional grab sample grading 32,100 grams per tonne (g/t) gold.

Follow-up exploration at the Roy extension has delivered further encouraging results, with 17 of 21 outcrop samples returning at least 0.5g/t gold, including eight samples exceeding 5g/t and a highest new assay of 17.3g/t.

The sampling covered more than 100 metres of outcropping bedrock within a broader 300-metre gold anomaly, located approximately 1,100 metres northeast of the historic Roy shafts.

Additional visible gold has also been identified close to the original discovery, reinforcing the presence of high-grade mineralisation within the emerging target area.

The Roy extension remains open along strike in both directions, with substantial sections to the northeast and southwest yet to undergo systematic exploration.

First Class Metals believes the findings validate its exploration approach, which combines soil geochemistry, LiDAR interpretation, structural geology and historical exploration records to identify prospective gold-bearing structures.

The company said the original discovery was made at a target selected using this geological model, with subsequent results supporting further investigation of the wider Roy trend.

A contractor has now been engaged to prepare the Roy extension for systematic exploration, including establishing access and removing surface vegetation and overburden to expose additional bedrock.

The exposed areas will undergo washing, detailed geological mapping and channel sampling to assess the distribution and continuity of gold mineralisation more accurately.

Further prospecting is also planned along the Roy trend, supported by interpretation of recently completed geophysical surveys.

Chief Executive Marc J. Sale described the latest results as a significant development, highlighting the consistency of elevated gold grades across the newly identified zone.

He said the discovery, more than one kilometre from the historic Roy workings, demonstrated the effectiveness of the company’s exploration strategy and strengthened the potential of the broader Sunbeam property.

First Class Metals is also preparing to commence drilling along the Pettigrew trend, with a drilling rig expected to mobilise around the end of October 2026.

The company intends to apply similar geological targeting techniques to Pettigrew and other prospective areas across Sunbeam, potentially identifying further mineralised zones.

For investors, the latest Roy extension assays provide encouraging evidence of high-grade gold mineralisation beyond the historic mine workings, with the 300-metre anomaly creating opportunities for further exploration.

However, grab samples are selective and may not represent the average grade of the wider mineralised system. The exceptionally high 32,100g/t result therefore cannot be used on its own to establish the grade or economic potential of the deposit.

Further channel sampling, drilling and geological analysis will be required to determine mineralisation widths, depth continuity and the potential for a commercially viable resource.

Attention will now turn to the Roy stripping and channel sampling programme, additional exploration along the 300-metre anomaly and the planned Pettigrew drilling campaign, as First Class Metals seeks to establish the scale of gold mineralisation across its Sunbeam property.
