The Smarter Web Company (AQUIS: SWC; OTCQB: TSWCF; FRA: 3M8) has appointed Chief Financial Officer Oliver Hewett as an Executive Director with immediate effect, strengthening its Board as the business continues implementing its long-term growth strategy.
The company also confirmed that Tyler Evans has stepped down as a Non-Executive Director, allowing him to focus on other business interests.
Hewett joined The Smarter Web Company as Group Financial Controller in April 2026 before being promoted to Chief Financial Officer in June, reflecting his growing responsibilities within the organisation.
Since joining, he has played an important role in financial management, corporate governance and strategic development, contributing to the company’s operational and financial planning.
His appointment to the Board recognises his contribution to the business and the company’s confidence in his ability to support its long-term ambitions.
Hewett brings almost 20 years of financial experience across institutional investment banking and senior management positions within growing UK businesses.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, he previously held positions at Barclays Capital, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and NatWest Markets.
During his time in investment banking, Hewett supported the financial execution of Royal Bank of Scotland’s £29 billion Capital Resolution programme, gaining experience in complex financial operations and corporate restructuring.
Before joining The Smarter Web Company, he also served as Chief Financial Officer and Board Director at two growing UK small and medium-sized enterprises, supporting acquisitions, revenue expansion and operational development.
Hewett will retain his existing responsibilities as CFO while joining the Board as an Executive Director, working alongside Chief Executive Andrew Webley and the wider leadership team.
His appointment comes as the company continues implementing its 10 Year Plan, which provides the framework for its long-term corporate strategy and growth ambitions.
Chief Executive Andrew Webley welcomed Hewett’s appointment, highlighting the importance of his financial experience, commercial judgement and contribution since joining the business.
Webley said Hewett had become an important member of the leadership team and that his elevation to the Board reflected confidence in his ability to help execute the company’s strategy.
Meanwhile, Tyler Evans is leaving the Board after supporting The Smarter Web Company’s transition to public ownership in April 2025.
Evans served during the company’s initial period as a publicly traded business, contributing to its development and governance following admission to the market.
The Board thanked him for his involvement and confirmed that his departure was intended to allow him to concentrate on his other commercial interests.
Webley expressed his appreciation for Evans’ contribution, acknowledging his support during the company’s early stages as a listed business.
For investors, Hewett’s appointment brings additional institutional financial experience directly into the Board’s decision-making structure, potentially supporting corporate governance, financial oversight and execution of the company’s long-term plans.
The announcement represents a change in Board composition rather than a change in the company’s financial guidance or operating strategy.
Attention will now turn to the continued execution of The Smarter Web Company’s 10 Year Plan, with Hewett taking on additional Board responsibilities while remaining responsible for the group’s financial management and strategic financial planning.
