Harena Rare Earths plc (LON: HREE) has highlighted the progress made at its Ampasindava ionic clay rare earth project in Madagascar during a presentation at the 2026 Africa Down Under Conference in Perth, Australia.
Executive Chairman Ivan Murphy presented the project to investors, governments and mining industry participants, outlining the advances made by Harena over the past year as it moves Ampasindava further towards development.
Among the key milestones highlighted was progress through the permitting process and the agreement of mining terms with the Government of Madagascar.
Harena also pointed to its Project Development Funding Agreement with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, under which US$4.84 million of development funding has been made available.
The funding is intended to support the continued advancement of Ampasindava as Harena develops the technical and operational foundations required for future production.
The company is also progressing plans for an on-site pilot plant and laboratory, which form part of its strategy to move the project towards rare earth concentrate production.
Harena highlighted Ampasindava’s infrastructure position as another potential advantage, including its proximity to port infrastructure and access to key processing inputs.
The company also used the conference to underline its environmental and social strategy and its continuing engagement with local communities and other stakeholders in Madagascar.
