Trump warns Iran to respond to peace proposal

Donald Trump has warned Iran to respond to a US ceasefire proposal “before it’s too late”, escalating pressure for a deal to end the conflict.

The US president repeated claims that Iran is “begging” for an agreement, urging Tehran to engage more seriously with negotiations.

Reports suggest a 15-point peace plan has been delivered to Iran via intermediaries, though signals from Tehran remain mixed. Publicly, officials have rejected the proposal, while some reports indicate it is still under internal review.

Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said there have been no direct negotiations, describing US outreach through third countries as “not a conversation nor a negotiation”.

The contrasting messages highlight ongoing uncertainty, with diplomacy and escalation continuing to unfold in parallel.

Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump said:

The Iranian negotiators are very different and “strange.” They are “begging” us to make a deal, which they should be doing since they have been militarily obliterated, with zero chance of a comeback, and yet they publicly state that they are only “looking at our proposal.” WRONG!!! They better get serious soon, before it is too late, because once that happens, there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won’t be pretty!
