Only days after jeopardizing worldwide food supplies by withdrawing Russia from the Black Sea grain pact, Vladimir Putin has pledged to provide grain at no cost to six African nations.
At a summit with African dignitaries, the Russian premier assured them that Russia has the capability to take over the role of Ukraine as a major grain exporter to their continent.
In the gathering, held in St Petersburg, Putin declared Moscow’s readiness to begin delivering grain without charge to six African nations within a timeframe of three to four months.
Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, the Central African Republic, and Eritrea were identified as the recipient nations, each slated to receive between 25,000 and 50,000 tonnes of grain.
