80 Mile PLC (AIM: 80M) said executive director Roderick McIllree has been appointed managing director of Greenland Energy Company, its joint venture partner for the Jameson Land Basin Project in Greenland.
The AIM, FSE and OTC-listed exploration and development company said McIllree’s role as an executive director of 80 Mile remains unchanged.
80 Mile also clarified that its subsidiary, White Flame Energy A/S, remains the 100% holder of the Jameson Land Basin exploration licences and is solely responsible for assessment, permitting and regulatory engagement with the Government of Greenland, Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq and other relevant authorities.
The company said all field activities, environmental impact assessments, social impact assessments and any permit to drill remain subject to approval by the Greenland Government.
In his new role at Greenland Energy Company, McIllree will oversee the partner company’s day-to-day activities in Greenland, with a focus on permitting, regulatory engagement and stakeholder relations in support of the planned exploration programme at Jameson.
He will lead interactions with Greenlandic authorities and local stakeholders, including work linked to the environmental impact assessment, social impact assessment, field activities application and drilling permit processes.
Under the farm-in arrangement, Greenland Energy Company, which is listed on Nasdaq, is obligated to drill two exploration wells of approximately 3,500 metres each.
Completion of the first well would allow Greenland Energy Company to earn a 50% interest in the project, while completion of the second well would allow it to earn a further 20% interest.
The total expected cost of the drilling campaign is US$70 million, or around DKK550 million.
80 Mile said the appointment strengthens the framework of roles and responsibilities between the joint venture partners as preparations continue for the next phase of development at Jameson Land, including the planned 2026 drilling programme.
The company said its leadership team has been active in Greenland for more than a decade and remains committed to conducting activities to high environmental and safety standards while working constructively with local communities, regulators and stakeholders.
