Xtract Resources Plc (AIM: XTR) has appointed local mining and civil works contractors to advance development of its Amghas antimony project in north-west Morocco, as the company moves from planning into site preparation and early mine development.
Work is progressing across three main areas: mine preparation and production readiness, construction and commissioning of a planned 70,000-tonne-per-year gravity processing plant, and ongoing metallurgical flotation test work.
At the mine, contractors are improving haul-road access, preparing underground portals and workings, removing accessible mineralised material and stockpiling ore for future processing.
Site preparation is also underway for the gravity plant, with benches being constructed to accommodate the processing equipment.
The civil works contractor completed a final site visit on 25 July ahead of construction, while Xtract has also purchased an impact crusher for incorporation into the plant.
The proposed flowsheet is expected to use shaking tables to produce an antimony-silver gravity concentrate for sale, with a jig to be added later once a suitable unit has been fabricated and delivered to Morocco.
Amghas received its mining licence in June 2026, allowing mining activity to proceed. However, processing cannot begin until the environmental permit has been granted.
Xtract said it is continuing plant construction in the meantime so the project can move into commissioning as soon as the environmental approval is received.
