# Workers employed offshore at Shell and Harbour Energy plan to go on strike over pay.

Unite, the trade union has confirmed that offshore workers in Apache, Shell, and Harbour Energy are preparing to strike imminently due to pay issues.

Over 150 members of Sparrows Offshore Services have agreed to take industrial action across more than 20 oil and gas platforms, which could result in the closure of several platforms in the UK Continental Shelf.

Furthermore, in a separate dispute over pay and conditions, 50 Sparrows offshore contractors will strike against BP starting later this month and continuing until June.

According to Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham, despite record profits in the oil and gas industry, with BP’s 2022 profits exceeding £23 billion, double those of 2021, workers are receiving meagre pay increases and no improvement in working conditions.

She pledged the union’s full support to the Sparrows members in their fight for better jobs, pay, and conditions.
