#### Asian Markets Mixed as Investors Await Fed Decision and Iran Deal Details

Asian stock markets traded mixed on Wednesday as investors weighed the implications of the emerging US-Iran peace agreement while positioning ahead of a closely watched Federal Reserve interest rate decision later in the day.

Oil prices remained under pressure, trading below $80 per barrel as expectations grew that energy exports from the Middle East would continue to recover following the tentative agreement between Washington and Tehran.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 was among the region’s strongest performers, rising 0.8% to 69,926.08 and remaining close to the record highs reached earlier this week. Sentiment was supported by stronger-than-expected trade data showing exports surged 17% year-on-year in May, driven in part by robust demand for technology-related products.

In contrast, South Korea’s Kospi slipped 0.2% to 8,706.10 as weakness in major technology stocks mirrored a broader retreat in artificial intelligence-related shares seen on Wall Street. Samsung Electronics fell 1.9%, weighing on the index.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined 0.8% to 24,273.95, while China’s Shanghai Composite edged 0.1% lower to 4,089.26. Australia’s ASX 200 bucked the trend, advancing 0.5%, while India’s Sensex gained 0.3%. Taiwan’s Taiex slipped 0.5%.

The mixed performance followed a similarly divided session in the United States. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.6% to a fresh record closing high of 51,999.67, extending its recent run of gains.

However, technology stocks came under pressure, dragging the broader market lower. The S&P 500 fell 0.6% while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.2% as investors rotated away from some of the market’s strongest performers.

Despite the broader technology weakness, SpaceX continued to attract significant investor interest. Shares in Elon Musk’s aerospace company gained a further 4.8% on their third day of trading, extending gains since its record-breaking IPO and pushing the company’s valuation further into multi-trillion-dollar territory.

Energy markets remained a major focus. Brent crude fell below $79 per barrel after declining around 5% for a second consecutive session. Traders continue to price in a significant increase in oil exports from the Persian Gulf as the proposed US-Iran agreement progresses towards formal implementation.

The sharp decline in oil prices has helped ease inflation concerns globally and has been welcomed by equity investors, who see lower energy costs as supportive for economic growth and corporate earnings.

Attention now turns to the Federal Reserve’s policy announcement, the first under Chair Kevin Warsh. Investors will be looking closely for guidance on the future path of US interest rates and any comments regarding the impact of falling energy prices on inflation expectations.

With oil prices declining, geopolitical tensions easing and central bank policy in focus, markets remain highly sensitive to incoming economic and political developments as the second half of the year approaches.
