Wall Street regained some footing on Friday as tech stocks staged a modest recovery, easing pressure after a bruising week driven by concerns that major artificial intelligence players — including Nvidia — had become overstretched.
Nvidia rose 1.3% in early trading, helping lift sentiment across the sector after several sessions of sharp declines.
The S&P 500 edged 0.3% higher, while the Nasdaq Composite — heavily weighted toward tech — also gained 0.3%. In contrast, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.5%, dragged down by weakness in more traditional industrial and consumer names.
Market gains were capped by lingering uncertainty over the Federal Reserve’s interest rate outlook. A December rate cut, once widely expected, is now viewed as far from guaranteed following recent data delays and cautious comments from Fed officials.
