As you might expect, London is the hotspot for the reports of Virgin Media broadband outages on the tracking website Downdetector.
However, Birmingham and Cardiff also have high levels of complaints.
Reports have emerged from Virgin Media users across the United Kingdom indicating issues with their internet access. The DownDetector website recorded numerous reports of outages starting from 1 am on Tuesday, followed by a spike in reports from 6:30 am as users attempted to connect in the morning.
Many users took to Twitter to express their inability to access the internet through their Virgin connections.

According to DownDetector’s data, the number of outage reports exceeding the usual baseline indicates the extent of the issue. As of 1:53 am, the number of reported outages had exceeded 15,000. Although there was a lull in the middle of the night, several thousand more users reported outages during the morning rush to connect.

The reports are widespread across the major cities, where a majority of the fibre optic broadband users reside, as evidence.
Virgin Media is working to address a broadband problem that has affected thousands of its customers. As per Downdetector, almost 29,000 users have reported service issues, with a majority of complaints originating from London and other blackspots identified in Birmingham and Cardiff.
In response, the company issued a statement on Twitter apologizing to affected customers and stating that their teams are working to identify and resolve the problem as quickly as possible. However, many customers expressed frustration at the apparent delay in addressing the issue, with numerous complaints being lodged on Downdetector by 2 am.
One Twitter user, Jason Kneen, noted that he received notifications of the outage through a simple @pingdom check on his phone, highlighting the apparent lack of notification from Virgin Media to its customers. Similarly, Andrew Mackenzie voiced scepticism about the company’s ability to resolve the issue quickly given the eight-hour lag between the outage’s onset and Virgin Media’s acknowledgement of the issue on Twitter.
