US equities pushed to fresh record highs on Thursday, extending the recent rally in technology and artificial intelligence-linked stocks.
The benchmark S&P 500 rose 0.61% in early trading to reach a new intraday record of 7,490.52, surpassing the previous all-time high set on Wednesday.
The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite also climbed 0.82% to 26,618.73, marking another record level as investor demand for major technology and semiconductor stocks remained strong.
Among the standout gainers, NVIDIA jumped 4.03% as enthusiasm around artificial intelligence infrastructure and chip demand continued to drive momentum across the sector.
Meanwhile, Cisco Systems surged 14.42% to a record high after unveiling a major restructuring programme that includes thousands of job cuts, with investors responding positively to the company’s cost-cutting and efficiency measures.
The latest gains reinforce the dominance of AI and technology shares in driving broader US market performance, despite ongoing concerns over inflation, interest rates and geopolitical tensions.
