Trump tells Britain to “get your own oil” amid energy crisis

Donald Trump has urged the UK to secure its own energy supplies, warning that the US may not step in to support allies as the Iran conflict disrupts global markets.

Speaking as the Strait of Hormuz remains constrained, Trump told Britain to “go get your own oil”, adding that countries should start learning to “fight for yourself”.

He also encouraged the UK to import more energy from the US, saying American supplies are plentiful, while global flows remain under pressure due to the ongoing crisis.

In comments widely seen as directed at Keir Starmer, Trump further suggested that Britain and its allies should take a more assertive stance in securing access to critical shipping routes.

The remarks highlight growing geopolitical tension not just in the Middle East, but also among Western allies, as energy security becomes an increasingly urgent issue.

The US president wrote in a Truth Social post:

All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT.

You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil! President DJT.

Oil pushes higher as Brent nears $115

The rally in energy markets continues, with Brent crude rising 1.86% to $114.88 a barrel.

The move reflects ongoing supply concerns, as geopolitical tensions and disruption around key shipping routes—particularly the Strait of Hormuz—keep pressure on global oil flows.

With prices holding well above the $100 level, markets remain highly sensitive to further developments, with energy continuing to act as a key driver of inflation expectations and broader market sentiment.
