Zak Mir takes a charting look at some of the most closely followed small caps on the London Stock Exchange. Today’s charts are **FTSE 100, DAX, Dow, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Gold, WTI Crude Oil, Ascent, Bradda, Calnex, Clean Power Hydrogen, Cloudbreak, Dianomi, EnergyPathways, Guardian Metal, Great Western, Intercede, Ilika, and Union Jack.**

The market tone has turned a touch more constructive, but it is still one of those setups where levels matter more than headlines. A few major indices are trying to break higher, crypto is improving, gold may finally be putting in a floor, and crude oil remains the market where the rug can still be pulled at any moment.

On the stock side, there is a decent spread of breakouts, channel moves, gap signals and recovery patterns worth noting. Some names are already moving, some are just at the point where the chart starts to get interesting, and a few are sitting at those classic make-or-break levels where the next few sessions should tell the story.

###### As always, do your own research and treat these as chart-based observations rather than hard recommendations.

### FTSE 100: 10,200 remains the key line in the sand

The FTSE 100 has found support where it needed to. The revised uptrend line from the end of September, running through the 10,200 area, has effectively marked the low over the last few sessions.

That gives the market a reasonably clear technical structure:

- **Support:** 10,200 to 10,210

- **Initial upside target:** 10,550

- **Stretch target:** 10,900, retesting February resistance and the record high area

The 10,550 level is the top of the falling trend channel from February. If the FTSE can clear that, the broader bullish case opens up properly, with a return towards the February highs and potentially 10,900 by the end of the month.

For that more optimistic scenario to stay alive, two things would help:

- an end-of-day close above the **50-day moving average at 10,398**

- the **RSI holding above 50**, which it currently is

If the index slips back under 10,210, then the downside looks relatively contained for now. Around **10,080** is the main lower support area, echoing the support seen in March.

### DAX: still the stronger European index

The DAX has been more on the front foot than the FTSE and, technically, it already looked stronger even before the latest push. It has had two RSI rebounds from the 50 area and has managed to gap through recent resistance.

The key breakout level here is **24,800**. While the DAX remains above that, the chart points higher.

- **Near-term objective:** 25,500, around the record highs

- **Best-case target over the next month or two:** 26,100

This is one of those charts where old lines have become less relevant because price has simply powered on through. What matters now is the trend continuation. As long as 24,800 holds on a closing basis, the bias remains positive.

### Dow: coiled in consolidation beneath 50,000

The Dow has not quite joined the excitement yet, but the setup is still constructive. It has been in a mid-move consolidation, roughly between **48,600 to 48,700** and **50,000**.

That sort of range can often act as a pause before another leg higher, especially when momentum indicators refuse to weaken. The RSI has held in the mid to upper 50s during this consolidation, which is a decent sign.

The key levels are straightforward:

- **Breakout trigger:** an end-of-day close above 50,000

- **Upside target:** 52,200 by the end of the month

- **Downside risk:** a pullback to the 50-day moving average near 47,800

It is also worth noting the broader moving average picture. The 50-day line is trying to rise up alongside the 200-day line, which tends to reinforce the idea that the larger trend is still in decent shape.

### Bitcoin: charging towards the 200-day moving average

Bitcoin has improved sharply and is now racing towards one of the more important trend gauges on the chart: the **200-day moving average**.

That level comes in at roughly **83,300**, and Bitcoin has not been above it since the beginning of November. Before that, there is a channel resistance level from February around **80,800**.

So the roadmap looks like this:

- **Initial resistance:** 80,800

- **Major technical hurdle:** 83,300 at the 200-day moving average

- **Next major chart resistance:** 90,500, based on late January resistance

If momentum keeps building, 90,500 could come into view by the end of May.

On the downside, recent support around **77,000** is the area to watch. The market has already produced three RSI rebounds from the 50 zone over the last month, which suggests dips are still being bought rather than sold aggressively.

### Ethereum: trying to catch up

Ethereum has been lagging Bitcoin, but it is beginning to repair the chart. It has broken out of a falling trend channel that had been in place since August, with that breakout occurring around **2,280**.

That improvement now points towards:

- **First target:** 2,540, the top of the prior channel structure

- **Best-case target by month-end:** the 200-day moving average near 2,694

As for downside protection, the **50-day moving average at 2,221** is now the key support. As long as Ethereum stays above there, the catch-up trade remains intact.

### Gold: signs at last of a proper bounce

Gold has been frustrating for a while, but the last 24 hours have at least offered something more encouraging. The **4,500** area, which matches late March support, appears to have done its job.

The immediate issue now is resistance:

- **Resistance to clear:** 4,700

- **Initial upside objective after that:** the 50-day moving average at 4,801

The broader hope is that the low is now in place and that gold has bounced from trend support. If 4,700 gives way, the chart starts to look healthier very quickly.

### WTI crude oil: still the market of the moment

Crude oil remains the chart where sentiment can turn on a sixpence. The key pivot had been **$99**, and once that support gave way, it opened the door to a deeper pullback.

The immediate focus is now on:

- **50-day moving average:** $93

- **Channel floor:** around $92

- **Further downside if $93 fails:** $85

The pattern has a loose head-and-shoulders feel to it. It is not perfect, but the idea is clear enough: a failed rally under resistance has left the market vulnerable.

For now, the downside remains valid **while crude stays below $99**. If the market cannot reclaim that level, rallies are likely to be treated with suspicion.

### Stock charts in focus

**Ascent Resources: improving structure with upside still on: **Ascent Resources continues to shape up reasonably well. The chart has been building despite the usual market impatience around timelines and delivery. The technical positives are stacking up with the latest gap floor on a mid-price basis is around **0.62p.**

**Bradda Head Lithium: **The initial target is **2.15p**. Above that, the upper parallel of the rising trend channel from August suggests as much as **3.1p**, potentially sooner rather than later if the moving average support keeps doing its job. Only a move back below **1.6p**, which was recent broken resistance, would really delay the bullish scenario.

**Calnex Solutio****: breakout points towards 85p: **Calnex has already hit the top of its rising trend channel at **66p**, and the next level higher now comes from an October resistance line projection. That projection currently points towards **85p by the end of next month**. The ideal setup is simple enough: hold above **60p**, which was recent broken resistance, and continue the move towards that higher target.

**Clean Power Hydrogen: bull flag breakout in progress: **Clean Power Hydrogen is one of the better-looking momentum charts in the small-cap space at the moment.  First target: around **7.75p**, already achieved, Second target: **13.5p**. Next major objective: **22p** by the end of next month For that stronger move to stay in play, the shares need to remain above **11.5p**. An end-of-day close through **12p** would reinforce the case for a run beyond 22p.

**Cloudbreak: punchy chart, punchy call: **Cloudbreak is nudging a rising **200-day moving average** after bouncing from the floor of its channel. That gives it one of those setups where a breakout can accelerate quickly if the market takes notice. The trigger is an end-of-day close above **0.60p** and above the 200-day line. If that happens, the upside target is **1p by the end of next month**. That is undeniably a punchy call, but it is also a punchy chart. Ideally, the shares now hold above the **50-day moving average at 0.46p**.

**Dianomi: falling channel breakout with gap support: **Dianomi is one of those under-followed names where the chart has quietly improved. The shares have broken out of a falling trend channel around the **18p** level. That breakout opens up the prospect of a move to **30p by the end of next month**. An extra positive would be a **weekly close above the 200-day moving average at 18p**.

**EnergyPathways: target hit, with 12p still possible: **EnergyPathways has already reached the earlier best-case target, retesting September resistance around **10.2p**. The chart still suggests a retest of **12p** is possible, provided the shares remain above the previous target area of around **8.75p**. The price action around the latest announcement has included some profit-taking, which is not unusual after a strong move. The key issue now is whether the stock can hold above its prior breakout area and reset for another leg higher.

**Guardian Metal: back at channel support: **Guardian Metal has come a long way off the highs above** 300p**, but it has now returned to a technically interesting area. The floor of the channel aligns with roughly **215p**, which was also effectively yesterday’s low. For anyone constructive on the longer-term story, that is the area where accumulation starts to make more sense from a charting perspective. The initial recovery target is around **257p**. It is a bit of a jam-tomorrow setup at the moment, but it remains one of the stronger names when judged over the longer arc of the trend.

**Great Western Mining: a catch-up trade with momentum: **Great Western Mining is being framed as a possible catch-up candidate in the same thematic space as Guardian Metal, though obviously on a much smaller scale in market cap terms. From a chart perspective, the important point is that the shares have broken recent resistance at around **3.5p**. That now points towards the upper parallel of the rising trend channel from December, giving a target of around **4.1p by the end of this month**. On the current look of the chart, the move may not even need that long. This one appears to be on its way.

**Intercede: strong island reversal setup: **Intercede has just hit the top of its falling trend channel at **112p**. If it can build above that, the next objective becomes **140p by the end of next month**, or possibly sooner. What makes this especially interesting is the pattern behind the move. This is a **bear-trap island reversal** type of setup, with the shares gapping down and then gapping up, in fact twice in the recent past. Technically, that is a very strong recovery signal. The main thing now is for Intercede to stay above recent broken resistance at **107p**.

**Ilika: back above the 200-day line: **Ilika has regained the right side of the **200-day moving average at 37p**, and that improves the picture significantly. The near-term target is the top of the falling trend channel at **43p**. Beyond that, the chart opens the possibility of **50p by the end of next month**. This is the kind of recovery pattern that can build steadily once the 200-day line is reclaimed and held.

**Union Jack Oil: finally some life after a long slog: **Union Jack Oil has had a reputation for being hard work, but the chart has at last begun to look more cooperative. The shares have pushed through the **200-day moving average near 3.88p**. That move has already carried the price to the initial target at **4.2p**. The next upside objective is **5p to 5.5p**, potentially by the end of this month. For a stock that has spent a long time disappointing, that is at least a proper technical improvement.

### What matters most from here

Across the major indices, the message is broadly constructive. The FTSE 100 is trying to base above 10,200, the DAX remains the stronger European chart, and the Dow looks as though it is coiling beneath 50,000 rather than rolling over.

In crypto, Bitcoin is closing in on the 200-day moving average, which makes the next leg especially important, while Ethereum is trying to follow through on its own breakout. Gold may finally be trying to carve out a tradable low, and crude oil remains vulnerable while stuck below $99.

Among the stocks, the stronger setups tend to share the same ingredients:

- breaks of falling trend channels

- bull flags and rising channels

- support from rising 50-day and 200-day moving averages

- gap structures that suggest trapped sellers and improving momentum

If there is a common theme running through the whole board, it is that plenty of markets are at technical inflection points. A few are already breaking higher. Others need one more close through resistance to confirm it. Either way, this is a tape where the charts are doing a decent job of separating the genuinely improving setups from the noise.
