Normally, the surplus power should be redirected to the battery for charging. However, the flaw causes an unpredictable rate of deceleration, potentially raising the risk of accidents and creating a safety threat, as per the Chinese regulator’s warning.\n\nThe defect could cause drivers to inadvertently press the accelerator, confusing it for the brake. To address this, Tesla has been ordered to issue electronic alerts to drivers if the accelerator is pressed for an extended period."}
