The first day of Autumn has arrived and, as days grow shorter and colder, you can see Londoners scurrying around when they spot a glisten of rays to catch those last moments of summer. Although the leaves have started to fall, summer is still clinging on to give its last hurrah giving us a week of sunshine and blue sky, whilst everyone is either daydreaming of last-minute holidays or thinking about their Christmas lists…
This week, hundreds of heads of state have gathered in New York City at the UN headquarters to attend this year’s 76th United Nations General Assembly, which started earlier this week. Providing world leaders with the opportunity to come together to address humanity’s most pressing issues, it shines the spotlight on issues such as global public health, inequality, climate change, peace and security. World leaders come together both in person and virtually to seek common solutions to shared challenges as the world continues to grapple with recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic and the ever-increasing risk from global warming, with these two topics taking centre stage this year.
Our own Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, used his time at the assembly to convey his position on the current climate crisis by citing the well-known poet, Kermit the Frog of Muppets-fame, in his speech: “When Kermit the Frog sang ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green’ I want you to know that he was wrong”. With this in mind, we move forward into the new season with the hope that we all have the power to affect the world’s climate for good by doing our part to preserve and heal our planet.

Europa Oil & Gas (Holdings) plc (AIM: EOG). Following the successful completion of the coiled tubing operations on 19 August 2021, the Wressle-1 well has exceeded production expectations. The well has achieved instantaneous flow rates in excess of 884 barrels of oil per day and in addition, 480,000 cubic feet of gas per day from the Ashover Grit on a significantly restricted choke setting (30.5/64ths) and with high wellhead flowing pressure. Even with the excellent flow rates that are being realised, the full flow potential of the well is still yet to be fully tested due to constraints with the gas handling equipment. The forward plan for EOG is to remove these constraints to increase production rates further and complete the testing of the well’s full potential before defining a plateau production rate.
