The decline intensified midweek due to a broad sell-off in equities.\n\nAfter a gloomy afternoon in global markets on Friday, the FTSE 100 closed down 0.7%.  The top performer was water utility Severn Trent, which rose 1.5%, followed by hip replacement manufacturer Smith & Nephew, up 1.4%. Conversely, Vistry, the owner of Bovis Homes, saw the largest decline, falling 6.3%, with Burberry trailing at a 5.2% drop.\n\nThe mid-cap FTSE 250 also declined, dropping 1.3%. Molten Ventures led the gains, rising 2.5%, while Safestore fell by 1.9%.
