The AIM All-Share had a strong week, climbing 2.2% as the positive sentiment affecting blue-chip stocks also benefited the junior market. This uplift followed the Bank of England’s notably dovish decision to hold interest rates on Thursday. Additional positive news arrived on Friday with a GDP report that exceeded expectations, effectively dispelling concerns of a UK recession.

The FTSE 100 closed out the week at another all-time high. The FTSE 100 set another record, bolstered by better-than-expected GDP figures, closing up by 0.6%. St James’s Place led the gainers, rising by 3.2%, with Spirax-Sarco Engineering close behind, up by 3%. The largest decline came from Rightmove, which fell by 5.5%, followed by Rolls-Royce, down by 2.4%.
Similarly, the mid-cap FTSE 250 also saw an increase of 0.6%. Leading the gains was magazine publisher Future, which jumped 7.1%, and landscaping supplier Marshalls, which climbed 6%. The biggest drop was seen in Auction Technology, down by 3.6%, and BBGI Global Infrastructure, which decreased by 3.4%.
