Vitaly Robertus, the vice president of the prominent Russian oil company Lukoil, has unexpectedly passed away at 53, as reported by Russian media outlets.
Lukoil released a concise statement yesterday confirming Mr. Robertus’s passing, expressing profound sorrow but not elaborating on the cause of death.
“Lukoil deeply regrets to announce the sudden passing of the company’s vice president, Vitaly Robertus, at the age of 54,” the company stated.
His death marks him as the fourth executive from the company to pass away since the onset of Vladimir Putin’s military actions in Ukraine, and he is the fifth high-profile individual linked to Lukoil to die.
Previously, in late October, Vladimir Nekrasov, who served as the chairman of Lukoil’s board, died unexpectedly. The company attributed his death at the age of 66 to acute heart failure.
Nekrasov had assumed the role of board chairman following the demise of Ravil Maganov, who fell from a sixth-floor hospital window and died in September 2022.
