Russian military personnel were killed when a Ukrainian drone attacked an area in Russia’s Saratov Region. This was reported by Russian news agencies, citing the defense ministry.
Russian state media agency Tass quotes the defense ministry as saying:
At around 01:35 Moscow Time (2235 GMT), a Ukrainian drone was shot down as it approached the Engels military airfield, Saratov.

Three Russian technical servicemen were killed when the drone’s wreckage fell on them.
The Guardian has not confirmed that the drone was indeed shot down or whether it had hit its intended target.
Reports claimed that blasts were heard at Russia’s Engels Airbase hundreds of miles from the frontlines in Ukraine. The RBC-Ukraine news agency reported two explosions.
Near Saratov, the airbase is located 730km (450 mi) southeast of Moscow and more than 600 km (370 mi) from Ukraine. The airbase was also attacked earlier in the month.
