Martin Rosser, CEO of Oriole Resources PLC (AIM: ORR), expressed his satisfaction with the latest drilling results from the Mbe gold project in Cameroon, emphasising their continued demonstration of the project’s strong potential.
Oriole Resources has reported promising drilling results from its Mbe gold project in Cameroon, reinforcing the project’s strong potential.
Hole MBDD003 intersected a high-grade interval of 4.24 metres at 7.7 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold, including 1.72 metres at 18 g/t, along with multiple broader zones of lower-grade mineralisation. “We are very pleased with these latest results from the second scissor pair of holes at Mbe, which continue to highlight the project’s tremendous potential,” said CEO Martin Rosser. “The high number of intersections received so far in this maiden programme is truly exciting.”
The drilling campaign at the MB01-S target has now surpassed 30% completion, with approximately 2,200 metres drilled across seven holes. Results confirm gold mineralisation extending over a strike length of at least 200 metres and reaching a vertical depth of around 290 metres.
Hole MBDD004, drilled in the opposite direction to MBDD003, also encountered multiple gold intersections, including 3.00 metres at 0.99 g/t from 143.60 metres and 4.60 metres at 0.53 g/t from 119.00 metres, with a higher-grade interval of 1.20 metres at 1.38 g/t. While MBDD004 yielded fewer mineralised intersections, it provided essential structural data to refine the geological model.
Rosser explained that although MBDD004 was initially anticipated to deliver the highest grades, the scissor hole approach was primarily aimed at gathering critical structural insights. “The purpose of the two pairs of scissor holes was to provide key geological structural information. With the measured drilling rate of the one rig, we can now fine-tune the programme’s drill hole parameters and further develop our geological model,” he said.
Two additional drill holes have since been completed, and a third is in progress, with further results expected in Q2 2025. The company is focusing on high-grade zones within broader, lower-grade gold envelopes and is using new data to refine its exploration strategy.
Oriole Resources, which holds a 90% stake in the Mbe project, is conducting the fully funded maiden drilling programme in partnership with BCM International. BCM has acquired an initial 10% interest and is earning up to an additional 40% by investing up to $4 million in exploration.
Rosser expressed confidence in the ongoing drilling efforts, emphasizing that further results will continue to reinforce the project’s potential to host significant gold mineralisation.
