Equinor’s Mongstad oil refining plant on Norway’s west coast was set ablaze early Sunday morning.
Another weekend with a fire breaking out in an oil refining plant, this must be the fifth we have reported in as many weeks.
Equinor stated that the fire started in the part of the refinery that makes gasoline. He added that the main refinery was still operational.
A spokesperson for the company stated that “the fire has been extinguished.”
Mongstad, Equinor’s largest refinery, can produce 226,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
The Mongstad region contains refineries, an oil terminal and other facilities.
Equinor stated that all staff had been evacuated and only those employees who were responsible for the emergency were still on-site.
The spokesperson stated that there is no danger to your life or health.
