Mkango Resources Ltd (AIM / TSX-V:MKA) has highlighted continued progress across its rare earths development portfolio as it released financial results and management commentary for the three months ended 31 March 2026.
The company remains focused on building a vertically integrated rare earths business spanning both primary production and recycling, with its strategy centred on becoming a leading supplier of recycled rare earth magnets, alloys and oxides through its 79.4%-owned subsidiary, Maginito Limited.
Alongside its recycling ambitions, Mkango is advancing the development of the Songwe Hill rare earths project in Malawi and the proposed Puławy rare earth separation plant in Poland, both of which have been designated Strategic Projects under the European Union’s Critical Raw Materials Act.
The strategic status underscores the importance of both projects in helping secure Western supply chains for critical minerals used in electric vehicles, renewable energy technologies and defence applications.
At Songwe Hill, Mkango has secured US$4.6 million of reimbursable funding from the US International Development Finance Corporation to support Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) activities, a key milestone as the project moves towards development.
Management said its dual-track approach of combining recycled rare earth production with the development of new sustainable rare earth sources positions the company to benefit from growing global demand for critical minerals amid increasing efforts by Western economies to reduce reliance on Chinese supply chains.
The company continues to advance discussions with potential strategic partners and funding providers as it seeks to progress both its downstream recycling operations and upstream rare earth development projects.
