Mendell Helium advances Kansas production programme as expansion gathers pace

Mendell Helium has provided an operational update highlighting continued progress across its helium production assets in Kansas as it prepares to expand drilling activity later this year.

The company’s Rost 2-26 well has now been perforated across its target production zones, with encouraging gas-bearing water observed at the surface. Data gathered during swabbing is being used to finalise the specification of an electric submersible pump, with installation expected following discussions with Halliburton’s Summit ESP division.

Infrastructure work has also advanced, with upgrades to the Brobee saltwater disposal well substantially complete. The well has received approval to double its disposal capacity to 10,000 barrels of water per day, providing sufficient capacity for both existing Rost wells and future production wells.

Elsewhere, the disposal well supporting the Schneweis Ventures 13A project has been completed, with the production well now being prepared for initial dewatering and production testing once final regulatory approval is received.

Looking ahead, Mendell has accelerated plans to drill up to four additional production wells at its Fort Dodge project. The company has acquired more than nine square miles of 3D seismic data to refine drilling targets and has shortlisted drilling contractors, with a preferred partner expected to be selected shortly. The programme, fully funded through the company’s April 2026 placing, is targeting the start of drilling by the end of October.

Chief executive Nick Tulloch said operations had progressed rapidly since the company’s AIM admission, adding that production data from both Rost 2-26 and Schneweis is expected shortly. He said the company is well positioned to significantly expand operations during the second half of the year, supported by a fully funded development plan.
