During his attendance at a G20 meeting of foreign ministers, Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, made a statement at the ‘Raisina Dialogue’ in Delhi regarding the Ukraine conflict, which was met with laughter from the crowd.
He stated that the war was “launched against us using Ukrainian people”, but was interrupted by loud laughter from the audience, causing him to pause momentarily.
Russia invaded Ukraine a year ago, which the Kremlin refers to as a “special military operation”.
Lavrov went on to declare that Russia would no longer depend on the West as an energy partner and would prevent them from damaging pipelines again.
He also mentioned that when they requested an investigation into the matter, their request was denied and that Seymour Hersh’s findings caused humiliation for Germany.
Moscow has proposed that Western countries were accountable for the blasts that caused damage to the Nord Stream pipelines in September, a claim that has been refuted, and an international investigation has been called for.
