[Kazera Global PLC (AIM: KZG)](https://www.investegate.co.uk/announcement/rns/kazera-global--kzg/2a-mining-right-granted-/9750383) shares jumped **28% to 2.025p** after the company secured approval for a mining right covering its Sea Concession 2A heavy mineral sands project in South Africa’s Northern Cape.

Kazera described the approval as a transformational milestone for the project and a key step toward developing the concession alongside strategic partner **South Africa AT Investments (SAI)**.

**Key Points**

| | |
| --- | --- |
| • | DMRE has formally approved WHM’s application for a Mining Right over Sea Concession 2A, following consideration by REMDEC. |
| • | 2A covers approximately 3,095 hectares on South Africa’s west coast. |
| • | The Mining Right has been granted for an initial 10-year term, renewable in accordance with the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (“MPRDA”). |
| • | The Mining Right grants WHM the exclusive right to mine garnet, monazite, zirconium, rutile (TiO₂), TiO₂-rich leucoxene and other heavy minerals. |
| • | Approval concludes the substantive Mining Right application process and enables WHM to progress towards execution of the Right. |
| • | Following formal grant, approval and execution of the Mining Right, US$1.75 million will become payable to WHM by SAI, at which point SAI will expand its joint operations into the 2A Concession. |
| • | Kazera and SAI intend to pursue the phased development of 2A into a large-scale, long-life industrial HMS operation. |
| • | Through SAI and Xiamen Antai Zirconium, the partnership brings funding capability, technical and processing expertise and established access to international markets. |
| • | The Technical Report published on 24 August 2026 confirmed an Inferred Mineral Resource containing approximately 1.31 million tonnes of economic heavy minerals within just 1.42% of the 2A licence area, with an indicative in-situ value of approximately US$369.3 million. |
| • | The remaining 98.58% of 2A has been identified as a substantial Geological Target which is estimated to contain an additional 265.2 million tonnes of HMS, with grades yet to be determined. |

Once the mining right is formally executed, a further **US$1.75 million** will become payable to Whale Head Minerals and SAI will expand its joint operations into Sea Concession 2A.

Commercial production is targeted for the **first quarter of 2027**, with output expected to ramp up to at least **10,000 tonnes of concentrate per month by the second quarter**.

SAI has already started shipping 30 containers of construction equipment from China as preparations for development advance.

The mining right covers approximately **3,095 hectares** and has been granted for an initial 10-year term. The concession includes minerals such as garnet, monazite, zirconium and rutile.

A technical report published last month identified approximately **1.31 million tonnes of economic heavy minerals** within just 1.42% of the licence area, carrying an indicative gross in-situ value of around **US$369.3 million**.

The remaining 98.58% of the concession has been classified as a geological target which Kazera estimates could potentially contain a further **265.2 million tonnes of heavy mineral sands**.

**Chief executive Richard Jennings** said the approval represented the most significant milestone in Kazera’s history and provided the regulatory platform to begin unlocking the potential of the asset.

Formal execution and registration of the mining right are expected within the next few weeks.
