Mpofu currently chairs Kavango’s Zimbabwean subsidiaries and brings nearly four decades of commercial and executive experience, including senior positions with 3M Company, BHP and ZB Financial Holdings Limited.\n\nIn a further strengthening of the leadership team, Lorenz Werndle will join the board as chief financial officer and executive director from 20 July 2026.\n\nWerndle brings extensive experience in mining finance, corporate development, fundraising and mergers and acquisitions. His previous roles include CFO of Blue Gold, Head of Corporate Development at Mwana Africa Plc and Head of Business Development at Lonrho Plc.\n\nThe company said the board changes are designed to strengthen governance, financial oversight and operational leadership as it develops its asset portfolio and expands its mining activities.\n\nMcAlister said the appointments reflect Kavango’s commitment to building a strong and experienced management team capable of supporting the company’s next stage of development, while the search for a permanent chief executive remains ongoing."}
