He admires and loves the King.\n\nIt is a significant relationship.”\n\nVance also noted Trump’s longstanding business interests in Britain, adding, “But I think it’s much deeper than that. There’s a real cultural affinity. And of course, fundamentally, America is an Anglo country.”\n\nDespite the trade tensions stemming from Trump’s so-called “liberation day” tariffs—which included a 10% levy on UK goods and 25% duties on steel, aluminium, and car parts—Vance said he believes a mutually beneficial deal is still achievable.\n\n“I think there’s a good chance that, yes, we’ll come to a great agreement that’s in the best interest of both countries,” he concluded.\n\n**Business Minister Welcomes Vance’s Optimism on UK-US Trade Deal**\n\nBusiness minister Sarah Jones has described US Vice President JD Vance’s comments on the likelihood of a UK-US trade agreement as “positive.”\n\nSpeaking to LBC, Jones confirmed that discussions are ongoing, with Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds engaged in constructive talks with international partners.\n\n“We know we’re in a good position,” she said. “The Secretary of State has been having good conversations with his counterparts, and there is a deal there to be done. As for when it will happen, I couldn’t say.”\n\nShe added: “But it’s encouraging that the Vice President is optimistic about the direction of our negotiations.”"}
