Greatland Resources Appoints Nick Strong as Chief Operating Officer

Greatland Resources Ltd (ASX: GGP, AIM: GGP) has appointed Nick Strong as chief operating officer, with responsibility for the company’s Telfer and Havieron operations.

Strong will join the company on 5 October 2026 and will oversee operational delivery at Telfer, as well as the brownfield underground development work at Havieron.

He is a mining engineer with more than 25 years of operational and leadership experience across the sector, including senior roles with Northern Star Resources, Rio Tinto and Newcrest Mining. His experience covers gold and base metals operations, including large-scale underground and open pit mines.

Strong has previously worked at major Australian mining operations including KCGM, operated by Northern Star, and Cadia, formerly owned by Newcrest. His most recent role was general manager of Hemi and KCGM Growth at Northern Star.

At Greatland, he will work closely with Telfer general manager Mark Benson to maintain Telfer’s mining and processing performance, while also overseeing the team advancing the Havieron underground mining development.

Greatland also confirmed that Otto Richter will move from acting chief operating officer to chief technical officer when Strong starts in the role.

Richter joined Greatland in 2021 as group mining engineer and led the company’s technical due diligence for the acquisition of Telfer and Havieron. He has also been responsible for strategic mine planning and ore reserve compilation.

In his new role as chief technical officer, Richter will focus on Greatland’s long-term growth strategy, including strategic mine planning and technical studies for projects such as West Dome Underground.

Managing director Shaun Day said Strong was joining Greatland at an exciting time and was well placed to lead the company’s operations and major growth projects.

“Nick has deep experience in overseeing large-scale underground and open pit gold and copper mines across Australia, and in planning and delivering large scale development projects,” Day said.

Day also thanked Richter for his work as acting COO, including his contribution to Greatland’s strong FY26 performance and recent resource and reserve updates.

He added that Richter’s move to chief technical officer would allow him to focus on strategic long-term planning as Greatland continues to develop its integrated Telfer-Havieron mining hub.
