Georgina Energy Completes Key Hussar Site Works Ahead of 3,200m Drill Programme

Georgina Energy Plc (LON: GEX) has completed a series of key civil engineering works at its Hussar helium, hydrogen and natural gas prospect in Western Australia as preparations advance toward drilling.

The company said contractors have now installed the 20-inch conductor pipe, completed the required water well and carried out upgrades to the Hussar airstrip. Preparation of the drilling and camp pads has also been completed.

The water well has delivered a consistent flow rate, while the drilling and camp areas have been gravelled, rolled and compacted. The airstrip has also been extended to support medevac operations and crew changes, with flood-prone areas reinforced.

Work is continuing on sections of the main access road, where gravel is being laid and compacted in low-lying areas vulnerable to flooding. Georgina expects the remaining pre-drilling site works to be completed shortly.

Highlights

  • The twenty inch conductor pipe has been set and will be cemented in the 26-inch hole opening.
  • The water well drill rig has completed the water well drilling with a consistent flow rate.
  • Gravelling, rolling and compacting of the drilling and camp pads has been completed.
  • The Hussar airstrip has been extended for Medevac and crew changes and has been completely rolled, compacted and a low spot prone to waterlogging has been gravelled and compacted.
  • Gravel has been carted to the main access road and laying and compacting of several low spots prone to flooding has commenced.
  • All the pre-drilling site works are expected to be completed shortly.

The company is preparing to mobilise the Ensign 970 drilling rig to test the Hussar EP513 prospect in the Officer Basin. The planned well is expected to reach approximately 3,200 metres, although Georgina said this could be extended depending on gas shows and reservoir quality.

Hussar is primarily targeting subsalt formations, including the Townsend Formation and fractured Neoproterozoic basement, for helium, hydrogen and natural gas. Secondary targets include hydrocarbon gas within the overlying Kanpa and Hussar formations.

An independent geological report dated February 2026 estimates net attributable unrisked 2U prospective resources of 283 BCF of helium, 315 BCF of hydrogen and 2.93 TCF of hydrocarbon gas.

Georgina has assigned a potential combined unrisked in-situ value of approximately US$152 billion to those resources based on assumed commodity prices. The company stressed that the figure excludes production, separation and transportation costs and there is no certainty that any of the prospective resources will ultimately be commercially recovered.

Anthony Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer of Georgina Energy, commented:

“Completion of these civil engineering works is crucial to our planned drilling operation; the operation requires a reliable and significant water supply which we now have in place and the setting of the 20” conductor will save a lot of time once the Ensign Rig 970 has arrived on site. This represents another important achievement in the necessary works to expedite mobilisation of the Ensign 970 drill rig to drill test this exciting prospect.”
