Fusion Antibodies lands contract with major US drugmaker

Fusion Antibodies plc (AIM: FAB) has secured a new contract worth more than £85,000 with an existing US pharmaceutical client, strengthening its commercial relationship with a major industry customer and supporting its strategy to grow recurring business.

The Belfast-based antibody discovery and engineering specialist confirmed that the project involves transient gene expression (TGE) of a lead antibody followed by cryogenic electron microscopy (CryoEM) analysis, supporting the client’s therapeutic antibody development programme.

The agreement has been awarded under an existing master services agreement with a US-based specialty division of a global pharmaceutical company.

The contract represents repeat business from an established client, following Fusion’s successful completion of an antibody humanisation project announced in August 2025.

Work on the new TGE and CryoEM programme is expected to be completed during the company’s current financial year, generating revenue exceeding £85,000.

Transient gene expression enables the production of antibodies for research and development, while CryoEM provides detailed structural information that can help researchers understand how antibodies interact with their targets.

The technically complex project demonstrates Fusion’s specialist antibody development capabilities, while supporting its strategy to build stronger commercial relationships with larger pharmaceutical companies.

Management believes expanding its customer base among established pharmaceutical groups could improve revenue visibility and reduce reliance on smaller individual projects.

The contract also supports Fusion’s wider efforts to commercialise its proprietary technologies, including OptiMAL and microfluidic cell line development, although the company has not stated that these technologies form part of the newly awarded work.

Chief Executive Adrian Kinkaid welcomed the agreement, highlighting the importance of repeat business following the successful delivery of the previous humanisation programme.

He said the award demonstrated the strength of Fusion’s relationship with the client and provided further opportunities to expand collaboration in therapeutic antibody development.

For investors, the contract provides additional near-term revenue and evidence of continued demand for Fusion’s specialist services, particularly from larger pharmaceutical customers.

However, the company has not disclosed the project’s expected profit contribution or whether further contracts will follow.

Attention will now turn to the completion of the programme and Fusion’s ability to secure additional work from established pharmaceutical clients, as it seeks to strengthen its revenue base and commercialise its antibody engineering technologies.
