**UK drivers** are facing another hit at the pumps, with** fuel prices** climbing sharply amid ongoing tensions in the **Middle East.**

According to the RAC, the average price of petrol has reached a **two-year high of 147.19p per litre**, up **14.4p since the conflict began**. This has pushed the cost of filling a typical tank up by **£8 to around £81**.

Diesel has risen even faster, climbing **29p to 171.17p per litre**—its highest level in more than three years—taking the cost of a fill-up to around **£94**, an increase of **£16**.

Analysts warn that with oil prices holding above **$100 a barrel**, motorists are likely to face **further increases in the coming weeks**, with petrol potentially exceeding **150p per litre** and diesel approaching **180p**.

The outlook suggests drivers could face the **most expensive Easter on the roads since 2022**, as higher energy costs continue to filter through.

### Trump calls for more oil supply as prices ease

Donald Trump said he wants **“as much oil in the system as possible”** following disruption in the **Strait of Hormuz**.

His comments come after the US moved to ease sanctions on Iranian oil shipments, aiming to stabilise global supply.

Oil prices have since pulled back from recent highs, with **Brent crude falling from above $114 to as low as $96**, and last trading around **$101 a barrel**, easing pressure on markets.

Donald Trump has said the US and Iran have reached **“major points of agreement”** following talks over the weekend.

He added that he is likely to speak soon with a **senior Iranian official**, though not the Supreme Leader, and suggested Tehran is keen to strike a deal.

Trump also indicated that Iran had **initiated contact**, saying the country wants “very much to make a deal,” raising hopes of a possible diplomatic breakthrough.
